Dreams of Being Hip: When Being Hip Goes Wrong

Sometimes to really understand how to be hip, you have to engage in some mainstream activities.  Just kidding.  Don't do that, that's probably 2 steps backwards in terms of trying to be hip. B ut sometimes, being hip does have unintended consequences and does in fact, go wrong.Let's give an example...This is a piece of fabric.  This was rolled onto hundreds of yards of fabric.  People demanded this pattern be printed thousands of times.

Now, this is what a hipster sees as an opportunity.  This hipster, was me. And I did this:

This is my couchNow, this is the type of thing a hipster can pull off.  They can take a slightly strange political thing that someone made with a three-headed Obama, throw it on a couch, and it's a funny quirky hipster decoration.  However, I've had people over who comment that they didn't know I'm such a big fan of Obama.  It's a hard joke to explain so I just kind of let it go.44th President?  Call me the #1 supporter, I guess.  This is an example of when being hip can go wrong.  I'm not a political person.  I just think this fabric is hilarious, and it makes a great functional covering for my couch. Now you're probably wondering, what is that dog head in the corner?  That's dog hat.Warning: Highly Addictive  This is no ordinary hat, though.  This is a hat that has plagued my life.  I've been through a lot with this dog hat addiction of mine: I bought that hat with the intentions of being a hilarious hipster with that quirky thing going on.  Little did I know that it would destroy my life.  I've recovered now, but it's important that you guys can see how being hip can go wrong. And that's why this week's dream of being hip is to end dog hat addiction across the nation. 2014, this is our year.
