Dreams of Being Hip: Stand-Up Comedy
Stand Up ComedySo lately I've been doing stand-up comedy because I've been thinking: "you know? I'm so funny I need an audience."
I've been going to open mics at a hipster coffee shop, and here are a few things I've realized:
- Hipsters are sensitive
- Don't do too edgy of jokes
- Sometimes, do the edgiest joke you can
I don't get hipsters sometimes. I am one. So, sometimes I think I get them, but I don't. I did this joke and it went amazingly:"I wish Chris Brown would beat up people I don't like, instead of people I don't care about"That killed them. However, my joke about my dog being super conservative and doing a bunch of anti-hipster things wasn't funny to them.I'd say some of the jokes that offended them, but you're all a bunch of hipsters too. So, I don't want to alienate another audience.What can I say? I'll keep trying.That's why this week's dream of being hip is to always tell perfect jokes to an audience extremely similar to myself.
