Zeds Dead X Illenium Review
Day one of the sold out Zeds Dead show was one of the most energetic concerts I have ever seen. There was never a dull moment throughout their whole 90-minute set. To a lot of people, electronic music sounds very similar but there are certain aspects that really set apart different producers and DJs. I even talked to people who don’t regularly listen to EDM and they said that this concert was well worth going to.First off, the opener Illenium set up an amazing stage for Zeds Dead. His remixes of different songs such as “Purple Lamborghini” from Suicide Squad got the crowd so wild! He even had his own little twist as he started to play the electronic drums himself and added all that extra bass and full sound to his songs. It really built up all the energy.
The headliner, Zeds Dead, really made this an unforgettable concert.
The way the stage was set up for this duo was a little different than Canopy’s usual EDM set ups. The very high set, huge backdrop, and immense stage effects had the audience completely immersed. Many of their backdrops consisted of different landscapes, which added to some of the deep and worldly songs that they played. Most DJ’s add unique backdrops to showcase what makes them who they are and to leave their mark on the audience. I really liked the way that these communicated with the audience.Words cannot even describe their music. Most of their songs were definitely very trap and dubstep heavy. The amount of bass they had made their drops about 100x more intense. On top of that, they also had explosive smoke and fire stage effects which added another element to the music and their stage presence. The drops make up a huge part of what makes artists like Zeds Dead good producers. I am usually very skeptical about many artists that create music like that because it can sound really good or it can fall flat. One thing I can say is that Zeds Dead killed it with their drops. You could actually feel every part of their songs in your bones. Their drops were so climactic that you could feel the tension in the room as everyone waited to let loose and it was perfectly timed every drop. Canopy Club suddenly became a rave with every single person in the crowd contributing to that. From the girls wearing cat ears to the boys wearing glow up gloves, it was a completely exhilarating experience for everyone. This is that type of concert that makes you want to keep dancing and keep head banging without a moment of rest. Zeds Dead is crazy and for those of you who weren’t able to check them out this time, I definitely would at some point. Even if you are not that into EDM, they are the type of DJs that will make sure that you have a good time.
