Weekly Dance 8/3/15 - (Future Bass)ists

Weekly DanceHey everyone, a week has gone by, and we're back with more Weekly Dance! I'm unfortunately not putting up a mix with this one, as I managed to beat myself up a bit on my road bike over the weekend. Works out as well because we're diving into a genre that I don't have much of a collection of but am stoked for anyhow, Future Bass! Future bass I find a little weird to describe. It's an amalgamation of a bunch of different feels of music, similar to Dubstep in a sense, but a lot chiller, a lot more groovy/funky, and with of course, a lot more focus on the bass. BPM's range typically in the low 100s; not quite dubstep, not quite house, definitely not pop though. For me it's kind of a gray area genre right now, but I'll give you a rundown at least what the genre means to me at the moment:(Heavens forbid if this isn't actually future bass to you, then at least here are some sick tracks that I like haha!)  [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/217486763" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]JNATHYN - Catch 22This is classified as Glitch Hop which throws me for a loop a little, as I remember Glitch Hop being much more aggressive. Catch 22 has more of a down to earth, funky groove to it, which is why it makes it to this list. The vocals tempt me to say I'm reminded of Porter Robinson, but when it drops it's saying something totally different. I like it frankly! A cross between some of the ethreal vocal breakdowns of trance, the builds of electro house, and wubs of dubstep, with some real instrumentation thrown in between.  https://youtu.be/4aQfdExvHpcDraper - On You (feat. Alby Hobbs)A moody bassline, a harrowing vocal line, and a chilly, yet groovy synth hook describes On You by Draper. Edging more on the chillout side, Draper doesn't fail to keep one engaged throughout the piece with accurate, tasteful accents throughout the track. Wonderfully mastered, as I expect from the guys at Monstercat :)  [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/214124327" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]Diamond Eyes & Christina Grimmie - Stay With Me (WRLD Remix)On the upbeat side again, here's one wonderful vocal performance from Christina Grimmie done up in a faster, bassy re-rendition by WRLD. You can really hear the variety of influences flying around in this track;it sounds like a progressive track for sure, but at the same time, the drop sounds like electro house, and maybe even a little reminiscent of trap/dubstep in flow. Regardless, your subwoofer won't be sitting around bored throughout this track.(On another note, can you believe it's been 6 years since Grimmie got on YouTube? Yes I'm talking about that Christina Grimmie; if you've been off the beaten road like I have, she's managed to blossom into quite a big deal lately. It seems as if it were only yesterday that she was doing a cover of Titanium...)  [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/210595663" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]Bronze Whale - Kings (feat. KP)A flowing vocal line is never complete without a drop that completes the feeling, and Bronze Whale does it in an interesting way here if you're used to house. No euphoric drop here, just a overflow of bass that sucks you in accompanied by an almost emotional percussive barrage of TR-808 hits. This is the intersection of Trap, Dubstep, and Progressive House.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faGkP0A-ObkGeek Boy - Don't Wanna Leave Your SideA lot of changing vibes in this one! Flow is inspired by dubstep somewhat, but the instrumentation is funk, with the introduction of some bubbly and spacey synth action coupled with a fresh, broken down rhythm.  [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/195534263" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]GRiZ - Funk PartyFlipping it around here, GRiZ is hands down one of my favorite artists to see music come out of. Everything the man churns out is highly original, blending old school funk style with modern production techniques. It's not uncommon nor strange to hear an electric guitar, a sax, or the distorted, bassy bliss of a synth through his tracks. Funk Party brings all these together with a rowdy vocal and horn hook, and is no less than one massive track! I can smell the barn dance already :P  Hope you enjoyed these tracks! Again unfortunately I don't have a mix available, though I'm looking forward to recording again next week. See you guys around for now!P.S. I'm also once again active on Twitter; I'm online and posting music whenever I happen to be browsing and digging around for new music. If you want to check it out, maybe be a little ahead of the game sometimes on these posts :), you can find me here! -> (https://twitter.com/ALYXX_)
