This Weekend! ON AN ON, Magic Man, Bookmobile!, Omens, Joe Pug, & More!

ON AN ON

Tonight! (Friday, November 15)

Who: ON AN ON, Savoir Adore, The 92sWhen: 9:00 pm – 11:30 pmWhere: Mike 'N Molly'sAges: 19+Event LinkFairly new Chicago trio ON AND ON created a lot of buzz at this year's SXSW Music Festival with their cool, artsy sound, and now you (YES, YOU!) have the chance to see them in all their indie, dreamy, music-y glory tonight.  (Yes, tonight!  Tonight, the night of all nights!)  The bottom line is: why not go see what the buzz is all about?  Concur or join the dissenters!  The choice is yours.  In the meantime, take a listen to "Ghosts," a single of theirs you can pass judgement in between prayers for fall break's swift arrival.  Joining ON AN ON are Savoir Adore, an indie duo from Brooklyn, and The 92s, a local band hailing from Champaign.  Savoir Adore dubbed the term "fantasy pop" to describe their music, and their newest album, Our Nature, featuring the incredibly dance-y "Dreamers" (which is currently on repeat).  The 92s are probably the "grungiest" of the lineup but definitely not without the catchiness and energy ON AN ON and Savoir Adore bring to the table.  Listen to The 92s' newest EP, Void, on their Facebook.  Seriously.  Tonight's the night of all nights.

 Magic Man

Tomorrow! (Saturday, November 9)

Who: Magic Man, A Cool Hand, Church Booty

When: 7:30 pm

Where: Courtyard Cafe, Illini UnionCost: $5 for U of I Students, $7 for PublicAges: All AgesEvent LinkStarcourse (which recently brought Grouplove to good ole Foellinger Auditorium) presents a smaller (but inevitably just as fun) show on Saturday night.  Magic Man hail from Boston and, at the very least, Starcourse is advertising them as an "Americana Synth Rock Band."  And if that description doesn't intrigue you/inspire spastic dancing, then what's wrong with you?  (Kidding.)  No judgement, (wo)man.  Magic Man is really just continuing on with the tradition of catchy music that's ridiculously easy to dance to this weekend.  You can score a free download of the better-than-caffeine "Every Day" on their website.  Local bands A Cool Hand and Church Booty join Music Man, making Saturday a night of displaying some indie gems in the local scene crown, too.  (Ignore the dumb metaphor.  Just know there will be some more "traditional" indie rock to rock out to, as well.)
