A State of Dance 4/20/15 - Cracked House

PizzaFM Blog PostHey everyone, ALYXX here for ASOD, reporting in with some new music. Missed a blog post last time so I'm gonna try to make it up, but it's going to have to be quick unfortunately because of this fabulous engineering schedule I'm on. Such is life! For 4/20/15 we'll be spotlighting a sort of sub-genre that I made up for organizational purposes, but it's one of my absolute fav's to dig in. It's called "Cracked Progressive House"....why I chose "Cracked", I have no idea, it just made sense in the moment! I organize my music with tags, and if I put the [CRCK] tag into my DJ software, all this music pops up. It's not really a sub-genre, more of a style I like to mix into, so expect genre flips flying around sometimes...Think of artists like D.O.D, Henry Fong, Leventina, some Firebeatz, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what I'm thinking about here :)First track up is one by Leventina, and boy have they changed from the first time I listened to them back in 2006! They've developed this sort of harder progressive style which I totally dig; in the they were in the usual sort of euphoric progressive stage. All good stuff back then, but now they're definitely catering to the mainstream party crowd instead of the rave I guess? For lack of better word, hehe. The track still has those euphoric progressive elements, but with an added layer of dirty synths that make it really fun to listen to:

Next one up is a banger from the likes of Henry Fong and D.O.D., as I alluded before. If you haven't heard "Bust Dem" before, it's one heck of a track. It has D.O.D.'s classic, punchy synth trills, along with a massive brass'y beat from Fong. There's something about D.O.D's synths that always makes me smile...and this track is no different. Something about that simple little synth line that makes you want to get up and groove...I can't quite put my finger on it. You may have heard it already, it's a little on the popular side of electronic music because of Fong, but I feel like more people should be aware of the oddity of D.O.D. and his style!https://soundcloud.com/spinninrecords/henry-fong-dod-bust-dem-original-mixFinal one up is flipping the genre already with a remix of Martin Solveig and GTA's Intoxicated. This one is hot off the wax, and brings in a sort of detuned, broken down, trappy, dirty beat that makes things interesting in the mix. It's complicated. If I lost you there, think of mixing a dubstep track into a electro track. Crazy? Never, tune in and I'll try to throw this guy in to show you what it means. The original mix of this track was pretty chill, your average sort of starter/afterparty track. Arkadiian and White do some magic to this and turn it into a solid, middle of the mix hit, with some aggressive synthlines and a hard hitting bassline:https://soundcloud.com/whiiite/martin-solveig-gta-intoxicated-arkadiian-whiiite-remix-2015Preview List (Soundcloud this time around)https://soundcloud.com/alyxx_official/sets/4-20-15-cracked
