Pygmalion Recap: Major Lazer, Youth Lagoon, Dessa, Caveman, Little Green Cars, and San Fermin
San FerminThe vocalists in San Fermin were not afraid to bust out the high notes during their sets. The crowd was pretty small but it was full of passionate fans singing along.Little Green CarsHalfway through their set, mid-song, the power got cut. They finished the rest of their set acoustic. Lead vocalist Stevie Appleby lit a cigarette before their final song, "The John Wayne" and told the story of when he wrote the song when he was 17 and "drunk on love... and alcohol." The band then proceeded to come into the middle of the crowd and form a circle to perform the song. This was the highlight of my weekend.CavemanAfter the technical difficulties that happened during Little Green Cars' set, it took a while to get the stage set up, causing Caveman to perform at a later time than scheduled. This did not stop their fans from waiting at their stage for over an hour and a half. During their set they made plenty of shout-outs to the nice weather. I'm assuming the weather they're used to from their hometown of High Wycombe, UK isn't as nice as it is here.DessaDessa, an independent artist from Minnesota, got the crowd going with her high-energy by getting close to the crowd adding to add to her already dramatic performance. Her tour van was burglarized a few days ago, but this did not stop her from continuing on with her tour.Youth LagoonYouth Lagoon immediately got people moving. Of course many of the fans were trying to get as close as possible to the stage, but many other fans chose to stay towards the back of the crowd to give themselves space to dance.Major LazerYou can always expect to see some craziness at a Major Lazer show and this show did not disappoint. Diplo would stand up on his speakers and wave a giant Illinois flag at various times throughout the set. At one point during the show, he got everyone to take their shirts off. He tested how crazy the crowd was by daring them to throw their shirts in the air. To prove that they really were crazy, most people did it.
