Larry and His Flask

Coming to us from Oregon, this six member group weaves through a fast paced tempo provided by an instrumental overload and classic synchronization of a cappella. After coming together in 2003, the band expanded from the original trio, brothers Jamin and Jeshu Marshall along with Greg Johnson, to double in size. Larry and His Flask are a mix of bluegrass and folk-punk, touring with bands like Frank Turner, Streetlight Manifesto, and Trampled by Turtles. As Warped Tour veterans, the group knows how to draw a crowd and keep them roaring with a spastic, yet calculating madness in the music they create and perform.

The Dirty Feathers

In the tradition of rock & roll with a psychedelic twist, this Champaign native band has been getting its name and message out here in the music scene of C-U. With just the right amount of edge for some head banging and air guitar, The Dirty Feathers are fueled to put on an riveting show.

Murder By Death

Murder by Death is tied in origin to Bloomington, Indiana, where the five piece indie band united to create a sound reminiscent of the old West, combined with a shot of the new age. Formed in 2000, they started playing shows at venues such as C-U’s very own Red Herring, and soon progressed onward as they toured with bands like Lucero and William Elliot Whitmore. The group proves their talent through the use of an array of instruments, winding in a cello, accordion, and even a theremin. Think of an alternative Johnny Cash, vocals provided and made all his own by lead vocalist Adam Turla. As Murder by Death wraps up their tour in the Midwest, Pygmalion will definitely be an exciting conclusion for their Fall travels.

Warpaint

The indie rock band consisting of Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Jenny Lee Lindberg, and Stella Mozgawa make Warpaint, the group of childhood friends all grown up and contributing their music to society. Formed on Valentine’s Day of 2004, these ladies created their image and mobilized in 2009, touring and opening for bands like The xx. A year after the release of their 2010 debut album The Fool, Warpaint moved up quickly, playing festivals like Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and Coachella. The Los Angeles natives are your modern day flower children, delivering lulling vocals and easy-going guitar riffs that echo throughout each track.  C-U is just one of many exciting stops for Warpaint as they continue on their international tour. As they tread along the height of their most recent success, this show is definitely going to be memorable.
