Pygmalion Preview: Sun Stereo, That's No Moon, Coco Butter Kids
Looking for an interesting end to an easygoing evening, complete with drinks and great music? Well then check out Cowboy Monkey on September 28th! Doors open at 11:00 pm, and tickets are only $7. Headlining the show is none other than Urbana's own Sun Stereo, with guests (who are also local acts) That's No Moon, and Coco Butter Kids. Show is 19+.
Following the folk duo is That's No Moon, a Champaign band that has exactly the kind of electronic indie-rock you've been looking for. From their revved up, pulse-pounding track "Chemical Burn," to the slower, more groovy "Gold Mind," this band has a broad range of music to please any palette. They have played prior Pygmalion festivals, and even opened for Twenty One Pilots last December. Do not miss their set of superior indie-rock when they go on at 12 am.
Now, on to the main act for the evening: Sun Stereo. This six-piece group is the brainchild of University of Illinois graduate, Kelly McMorris, who banded together a group befitting his musical vision. The result of which is an electronic, funk-filled venture that roots itself deep into the stylings of late-era Beatles. This atmosphere of spacey soundscapes is as much a product of the performance as it is the music. Consistently, Sun Stereo treats its audience to an attention-grabbing and visually mystifying on-stage performance, complete with hoop-dancing and lasers. You would be a fool to miss anything this good!
