Pygmalion Preview: An introduction
Hello there Pizza Pals!If you haven't checked your calendar lately, Pygmalion Music Festival 2013 will hit Champaign-Urbana hard next week. Nine days from now you'll be seeing Major Lazer, The Breeders, The Head & The Heart, Dawes, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Warpaint, and so many more incredible bands. That's why this week's (and next week's, of course) blog is dedicated to Pygmalion Music Festival. If it's your first semester at U of I and you're finally all settled in, you may be asking yourself "What is a Pygmalion?"In short, Pygmalion Music Festival is a big-- well-- music festival all over Champaign-Urbana featuring artists from across the nation. The 2013 headliner will be Major Lazer (you know, the guy who made that "Bubble Butt" song?) This year Pygmalion will also include a Lit Festival and "The Made Fest," which is a "curated marketplace featuring handmade and vintage sellers" at The High Dive the Saturday of Pygmalion. For a full schedule, see Pygmalion's website. For those new to the C-U area, Pizza FM highly recommends acquiring a festival pass and seeing as many shows as you possibly can. It's a great way to expose yourself to all that Champaign-Urbana has to offer while hearing some excellent music. It doesn't even matter if you've heard of the band or not! If you're a bit short on cash (college, am I right?), Pygmalion also offers tickets to individual shows.Individual show tickets and festival passes are still available on Pygmalion's website. If you stay tuned to Pizza FM's Music Blog over the next few days you will see a preview of every show Pygmalion will have to offer. Feel free to browse our previews before deciding which shows to see. Listen to our special Pygmalion Music Munchtime, a Spotify playlist featuring Pygmalion bands. Get extremely excited and wet the bed next Wednesday night in anticipation. But above all, it's Pygmalion so get pumped.
