DJ of the week: LaSarah
The DJ of the week is LaSarah! Her show is very popular among listeners -- find out why! We talked about politics, music, and of course... HalloWiener Schnitzel. (I am not apologizing for my puns today.)Michelle: What's your major and what year are you?LaSarah: I am a junior in Ethnomusicology (world music and history, basically), and I have minors in German and African American Studies. I just started my senior thesis on Turkish Hip Hop in larger urban German communities, but also specialize in LGBT Hip Hop!M: How did you get your DJ name, and what is your show about?LS: I was given my DJ name by my close friend, Andy Kopp, who has always called me LaSarah. Most of the staff of Allen Hall calls me that. My show is about queer female culture and music, as well as advice and queerent events!M: Who is your favorite artist not from the U.S.?LS: I really like Movits, which is a Swedish hip hop group.M: Are you politically active? Who would you postulate for President of these fine United States of America?LS: I am somewhat politically active, but mainly only when it comes to social justice issues. I would have Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation run for President, and that sassy lassie would win.M: If you could change one thing about anything, what would you change?LS: If I could change one thing, I would instill each human with an understanding of their own self worth.M: What are your thoughts on Lady Gaga?LS: I think Lady Gaga has a killer voice and is actually incredibly musically talented. Haters can step the fuck off her vibe.M: What is your favorite thing about Pizza FM?LS: I love the studio. It is so cozy because it has Christmas lights and bean bags and crazy awesome drawings on the wall. And, of course, my show, LezTalk.M: Now that we've gotten those irrelevant questions out of the way: are you dressing up for Halloween, and if so, as who or what?LS: I am dressing up as Velma from Scooby Doo for Halloween! Who else but a curvy, awesome lesbian?! Readers, friends, enemies, I wish you the most spooktacular Halloweenie on this rainy day. Remember that today it is socially acceptable consume candy as one's sole sustenance. Stay boo-tiful, but more importantly, catch LezTalk with DJ LaSarah from 2 to 4 pm on Thursdays!
