Weekly Mouthful: Error Records
Often times, different media outlets will attempt to differentiate their video content by adding a weird n' wacky spin so people will say, "Hey! They're doin' something different!" Well, we're no different. This is The Weekly Mouthful, a video series featuring interviews with artists as they eat pizza.
A couple of years ago, The CU Collective came up with a crazy idea: Establish an all-ages music venue in Champaign-Urbana. But, as the funding requirements for such an endeavor is pretty steep, and real-world problems like work and school further hindered the group's progress, it looked like bar venues would reign supreme over the local scene (which definitely isn't a bad thing). However, a little while ago Nathan Landolt, Founder and Head Honcho of Error Records, revived the idea. And now, with the help of CU Collective members and several other locals, an all-ages venue is most definitely in-reach. An Indiegogo Campaign has already raised over $1000, and several benefit shows are lined up to raise the necessary funds needed to get the venue running by this Spring.Additionally, Landolt plans to convert other parts of the space (located at 702 S. Neil St. in Champaign) into a record store and art space. Though, the donated funds are exclusively for the performance space itself. In this installment of The Weekly Mouthful, Nathan Landolt discusses the details of the forthcoming all-ages venue and its potential impact on the CU music scene, all while eating some of his and his girlfriend's homemade vegan, deep-dish pizza.
