Tonight! Carolina Chocolate Drops

Who: Carolina Chocolate DropsWhen: 7:30-9:30 pmWhere: Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Tryon Festival TheatreCost: $10-$25Ages: All agesMore infoThe first song I ever heard from Carolina Chocolate Drops was a cover. Remember that pop tune "Hit 'em Up Style," from 2001? Well, Carolina Chocolate Drops, in their rootsy traditional-string band style, turned it into a fiddle tune, perfect for everyone's inner country bumpkin. In its modern take on traditional African American string band music, using banjos, bones, spoons, and fiddles for classic and original compositions, as well as interpretations of artists like Tom Waits, Caroline Chocolate Drops is one of the only bands for which I can actually say, "Wow. They actually really deserved that Grammy."
