Joan of Arc - 'Joan of Arc'

Tonight! (Friday, February 22)

Who: Joan of Arc (solo), Anna Karenina/Anna KarinaWhen: 8:00 pmWhere: The HighdiveCost: $8Ages: 19+Facebook EventThe Illinois-based Kinsella brothers are Midwest punk-rock legends, known for paving the way for modern emo and post-punk that shaped a significant part of the independent music scene past the turn of the century. Primarily known for their work in Cap'n Jazz and the like, Tim Kinsella has also been the only constant member of the ever-shifting, seminal indie rock band Joan of Arc, which in 2012 released its self-titled bazillionth album on Joyful Noise Recordings (Polyvinyl released the majority of the band's previous records). Joan of Arc's Tim Kinsella is returning to The Highdive tonight for a special solo rendition of selections from the band's catalog, for an experience only a square would miss. Though, all geometric figures are encouraged to attend. Locals Anna Karenina/Anna Karina open.

What: Another Error Records Benefit Show!Who: Shy Guy Says, The Stars They Beckon, Maid Myriad, Be My DoppelgangerWhen: 9:00 pmWhere: The Velvet ElvisCost: $7 donation (to Error Records)Ages: All agesFacebook EventYeah, we've been posting non-stop about Error Records' plan for an all-ages venue, bringing up the so-close-to-being-funded Indiegogo Campaign whenever we get a chance. But, for the sake of revitalizing one of the gnarliest music scenes around, here's another way you can fight for a minor's right to party. The Velvet Elvis is hosting the third Error Records benefit show to raise the necessary funds to get this venue running in the Spring. Catch pseudo-local space rockers Shy Guy Says and for-real-local melodic punks The Stars, They Beckon with touring acts Maid Myriad (Ohio) and Be My Doppelganger (Kentucky) for a real night on the town.
