The Facebook event says it's "BYOB," so I'm assuming that means "Bring Your Own Bodyguard" so you don't get thrown into a window.Facebook Event

Who: Like Pioneers, Canoe Canoe, HumeWhere: Mike n' Molly'sShow starts: 9:00 p.m.Cost: $5 at the doorIndie pop band Like Pioneers joins us from Chicago to play famous hits like "Stop In the Name of Love," "She's Not Your Girl, Girl" and "Tell 'Em, Ghost." This is exactly the kind of band you would listen to after a hailstorm destroys your car window after your girlfriend broke up with you over Facebook to chase after that cute football player. It's a feel good to make you feel like your life isn't a total waste of time. You can see them in a nice intimate venue, while holding back tears for your lost Stephanie.Facebook Event

Who: Local H, AmbassadorsWhen: Saturday, October 6 @ 7 p.m.Where: The HighdiveCost: $15 in advanceAges: 19+You guys all remember that song "Bound for the Floor," right? Where that super cool, stripped down guitar plays that riff over and over, and the pre chorus goes "You just don't get it/ You keep it copasetic"? Well, hopefully you knew that Local H, the song's birth mother, has a whole bunch of other songs, as well as records, and they're actually super duper famous (in a cult way) in Chicago and Midwestern circles. In support of the new record, Hallelujah! I'm a Bum, Local H is on tour, and even though it's just a couple of guys with a guitar and drums, I hear shit gets crazy. Support comes from Brooklyn-based Ambassadors, a band also touring on a new record with super poppy vocals over a ridiculous amount of bass. How very tao.Facebook Event

Who: Jake Simmons & The Little Ghosts, The Cortlandt Homes, Shadows on a RiverWhen: Saturday, October 6 @ 9 p.m.Where: Mike n' Molly'sCost: $5Ages: 19+Power pop seems to have faded away with the novelty of singing a song like "Stacey's Mom" over and over again until you throw up and sing it again. So kudos to Michigan's Jake Simmons & The Little Ghosts for keeping it alive, because without power pop, you just have regular pop, and who wants pop with no punch? It's like comparing seltzer water to carbonated Hawaiian Punch; Hawaiian Punch will always take the cake. We then go down the Midwest with Chicago-based openers The Cortlandt Homes and CU's Shadows on a River (goin' acoustic).Facebook Event
