Show Preview: Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate), Dowsing, Enta, Cloud Gavin

 Error Records Show Flyer

It's emo week at Error Records!  If Monday night didn't bring out the feels enough, that show having featured the likes of touring acts Two Knights and Ice Hockey, as well as locals Woodie, Hometown Heavyweights, and Springfield up-and-coming trio Wir Konnen, a great lineup is in order for Thursday's show.  Fans of that Midwestern sound ought not to miss 'em.  With both Dowsing and Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) playing sets, there will be more than enough feels to go around, and more than enough memories to be made.  Bring a friend, date, significant other, or maybe even your mother out to the show, and dance (or cry) together to some of these bands! Cloud Gavin

Cloud Gavin

First up for the night is a true Reniassance man of a band hailing from just 30 short miles away in the city of Danville, Illinois.  The brainchild of Zach Hudson, Cloud Gavin combines elements of pop punk, post rock, progressive music, and indie to encompass songs which at times reach 12 minutes in length.  Although it's been a year since the group's last release, Posture, they've seen their fair share of the road since, completing a month-long tour this past April, as well as a four-day run in October, and are bound to keep things fresh.

Enta

Enta

It's been three months since local post-rock/hardcore heroes Enta have played a show, other than Nick Brannock's well-done cover set last Friday night for one of Error's Halloween weekend shows.  However, luckily for us show-goers, they are awakening from hibernation to deliver the set of a lifetime this Thursday night.  The band, whose last release was a split with the now-defunct St. Louis outfit Strangers Now, vows they have new material, with plans for a new LP to be released next year, and are ready to once again take the stage.  If it's anything like what they have now, expect to be soothed by a wrathful yet melodic blend of emotional hardcore and ethereal ambience.Dowsing

Dowsing

I remember the last time this Chicago indie/emo outfit passed through the C-U area.  Their set at Skeletal Lightning Fest last April sure brought surprises, including a sneak peek of a new project called Pet Symmetry, featuring some of its members and Evan Weiss of indie legend Into It. Over It.  Now, Dowsing have a new album out through Count Your Lucky Stars records, called I Don't Even Care Anymore and are back to satisfy the ears of those they intrigued at the aforementioned fest and new audience members alike.  Come nod your head in approval to their groovy take on emotional indie rock.Empire! Empire!

Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate)

The main attraction for the night is a husband-and-wife duo and more coming through from Fenton, Michigan that has recently gained recognition in the emo/indie scenes in the Midwest and abroad.  The duo cites American Football and Mineral as influences, and it surely shows - their subtle vocals and heartwarming melodies reflect nostalgia of the genre's origins while also offering something new.  Like Dowsing, Empire! Empire! has their newest release, a remastered version of When the Sea Became a Giant, out via Count Your Lucky Stars records.Dowsing and Empire! Empire! are also on tour together, this show being their last date together after a run to the east coast and back, which included performances at "The Fest" in Florida.  After this show, Dowsing will continue on to the West Coast before returning to Chicago after having been on the road for 34 days. For those who can't quite make it out this Thursday, check back to pizzafm.org afterwards for a recap of the night's endeavors.  Also, feel free to browse through the various links throughout this article about the bands, as well as more information about Error Records.error-records
