[Royalty] Free Pizza: Arthur Collins

Some consider Arthur Collins to be one of the artists whose work led to the creation of the jazz genre. He began his career in music with the help of inventor Thomas Edison. His work, often with the help of fellow vocalist Byron G. Harlan, garnered a large audience between 1900 and 1920, with his largest hit coming in 1905 with the recording of “The Preacher and the Bear.” Collins recorded the song with almost every major American recording company following its initial reception.“Every Little Bit Added to What You’ve Got Gives You a Little Bit More” is a short croon tune, with not much written about it, from 1908. But its message is relatively simple, performed in a manner that’ll have you cruisin’ in a steam boat.In 1921, Collins was the victim of a strange accident: he fell through a trapdoor on stage during a demonstration of the Edison Tone Test. Although he would recover from the injury, lingering effects of the fall and other health complications compelled him to retire to Florida, where he died in 1933 at the age of 69.Download "Every Little Bit Added to What You've Got..." here courtesy of Archive.org, or stream it below: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsjaygvJIcE]
