Recap: Pitchfork Day 2
"You think it's hot out there, try being on stage in the shade", said Pissed Jeans frontman Matt Korvette said, teasing the crowd about the hot weather during their set.Pissed JeansPissed Jeans put on an exciting show today full of dancing around the stage and shooting snot-rockets while singing. They were also very excited to get their pictures taken. You can see in the photo above guitarist Brad Fry and lead vocalist Matt Korvette fighting for the attention of the cameras. PhosphorescentMatthew Houck really knows how to utilize an entire stage. He never stopped. As much fun as he was to watch perform, I could not keep my eyes off of the keyboard player who was much more into the music than any other band members. Parquet CourtsParquet Courts had the entire crowd moving to their fast-paced punk style. I caught Lee Spielman of Trash Talk watching their set from backstage. ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The DeadThis hardcore alternative band kept the crowd captivated with their heavy guitar riffs. They were so heavy that Conrad Keely popped a string and had to switch guitars in the middle of the set. They had everyone headbanging. They were very pleased to announce that they had just finished recording their new album. MerchandiseI was surprised when Carson Cox came on stage wearing green make-up over his eyebrows, a bindi, and a cheetah print shirt because this is not what you normally see punk bands wearing. Despite the strange outfit, they still put on a good show and kept the crowd involved through the use of the small venue. Cox greeted the photographers as we entered the pit and said goodbye as we all left. SolangeSolange was a great performer to watch. She was even more fun to photograph. She has a stage presence that no other artists have had so far at this festival. She stopped and danced a lot throughout her set. She was clearly having a great time performing which, in turn, made the crowd have fun along with her.
