Recap in Crayon: mewithoutyou, Shone, and Auctioneer
I don’t own a camera, so I started posting crayon drawings I make from memory of the bands I see at shows.
mewithoutyou, Shone, and Auctioneer at The Old National Centre in Indianapolis on Monday, June 17th.
A couple nights ago I got the chance to see mewithoutyou play a show at the Old National Centre in Indianapolis, IN. It was a really well-kept beautiful old venue, so if you ever feel like trekking to Indy for a night, I would highly recommend the place. Overall it was a great show, and mewithoutyou lived up to every one of my expectations. Although, there was a little bit more moshing and thrashing than my friend expected. She had previously only seen mewithoutyou at Christian music festivals where the crowds were much tamer. The openers were Auctioneer from Philadelphia, and Shone from New York. Here are the highlights from the show:• mewithoutyou holding a potluck dinner and group hymn singing prior to the show• A simply marvelous set from Auctioneer that reminded everyone of the great music scene Philadelphia has to offer.• Some exceptionally outlandish showmanship from Shone• Shone’s frontman holding out his Green Lantern ring while singing about willpower• mewithoutyou’s Aaron Weiss throwing towels at his bandmates• Beautifully screamed poetic lyrics that were just as good live as in recordings• Weiss’s encouragement of the increasing conga line/circle pit• Weiss shaming the audience for requesting the song “Gentlemen”
