Pygmalion Preview: METZ, Hank., The Stars, They Beckon

The shows start at 9:15pm on Friday, September 27 at the Independent Media Center

The Stars, They Beckon

This ensemble is a fine, domestic product straight out of Champaign-Urbana. “Why the Long Face?” was released on their Bandcamp last September, and it boasts “gruff vocals” and great lyrics that’ll make you nostalgic for the Midwest despite the fact that you’re probably in it right now. Their set begins at 9:15 at the Independent Media Center and promises a half hour of moshing, headbanging, and heartfelt songs.

 Hank.

Hank. is the name. Math rock is the game. Hank. is perfect music to listen to as you rip-up your calculus homework in a fit of angst, so pick up Pinched. which was released only two months ago! They’ve been busy touring across the country, but they are back in good old Illinois, so at 10:15, be prepared for some seriously mind-boggling experimental rock.

 METZ

The Toronto based hardcore punk band that has become exponentially popular over the years with good reason.  Though formed only in 2010, METZ was shortlisted to the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. Their self titled debut was released last year, and will be sure to blow you away with its noise rock jams.
