Mississippi John Hurt - "Nobody's Dirty Business"

Some of these mornin's gonna wake up crazy, gonna grab my gun and shoot my baby; nobody's business but mine.Ain't nobody's doggone business how my baby's treatin' me; nobody's business but my own.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG09Vb8uKL8] Mississippi John Hurt is an incredibly notable black country blues/folk singer from the early 1900s most notable for his style of syncopated and melodic finger-picking which backed his tenor-quality whisps. This particular recording is a tune from the 20s called "Nobody's Dirty Business" in which Hurt discusses a relationship with a woman gone awry. Hurt admits the possibility of his violent tendencies and attempts to get his lady-friend back through a letter with promises of him being a better man. That said, the lyrics are pretty violent and in-your-face. Even though Hurt's personal relationships aren't your business, he makes it your business. But, he covers up the intensity of the situation with a relaxing old-folk melody and upbeat fingerpicking chops.Perfect for a lazy, tired Sunday.Download it here:Mississippi John Hurt - "Nobody's Dirty Business"
