The first time I heard Born Ruffians, I fell in love with the raw energy and Modest Mouse-ness of the band, realizing that, though this was another band in the indie rock World, it was far from derivative. It's been a few years since then, but the band is still going strong, with third LP Birthmarks on the way via Yep Roc on April 16. You can stream album single "Needle" below.Though seemingly calm and modern folksy at first, this tune gets funky real fast.
