Black Friday Record Store Day
Record Store Day will always be one of my favorite holidays. April sees me all giddy and constantly refreshing my wish list of special edition, colored 10-inches, featuring a band-I-kind-of-like's live renditions of B-sides.But as of last year, the organization behind Record Store Day decided to feed into American consumerism with a Black Friday event. That means two Record Store Days in one year, every year. Holy moly! That means Black Friday Record Store Day is happening right now!Conceptualized in 2007 by Chris Brown (of all people...) to promote independent record stores all over the world, Record Store Day encourages artists, labels, and whoever else to release physical, limited edition music. That music is then sold exclusively by independent record stores (no Best Buy or FYE) to encourage consumers to break from torrenting and buying digital for a day and learn the wonders of brick-and-mortar music shops. You can head over here to learn more about the Record Store Day, in general. You can also click here to view a complete list of special releases, which your store may or may not have in stock.Or, you can go to your local record store and actually bask in the glory that is Black Friday Record Store Day.
